How Do I Choose A Wig That's Right For Me?
by Danielle Monroe

We at Danielle’s Boutique want you to not only be 100% satisfied with your purchase, but we want you to be 100% thrilled! In keeping with our dedication to you, the customer, we’d like to offer our assistance with your wig selection and purchase, beginning with this handy guide which takes the guess work out of finding the right wig for you.

There are many considerations to be made when choosing the right wig for you and your overall style. Below, we will discuss the most important factors.

#1. Facial Shape: If you have ever purchased a wig and found that it made your face look too round or made your head look too large, you most likely chose a wig designed for a facial shape other than your own. Yes, that's right, each facial structure comes with its own special options as far as hair styles go.

Below, you will see a table of illustrations, each representing one of the seven basic human facial shapes. Choose the shape that best matches your facial shape and then move on to step two.

#2. Choosing the style: Below are the hair styles that go with each particular facial shape. The suggested styles below are in order.

SQUARE have softness and roundness at the temples and jaw line. This will soften harsh angles and give a much more feminine appearance.Straight Styles Mid-Length, Curly, Shag, Fluff Back

Below is a table of illustrations showing the various styles mentioned above.

#3. Color selection: The Color, as with the style choice, depends upon your personal style as well as your facial shape. Are you looking for a natural and casual look or something that stands out and screams S-E-X-Y?

Knowing your skin tone is key here. If you have pale skin, you are more than likely what is known as a "cool". Wigs in various shades of brunette and red are best for a "cool featured" person. Give blonde wigs a try for a more sexy, attention-getting look.

Conversely, if you have olive or medium skin, you are in most cases a "warm". Blonde wigs are best for a casual look. Go for Brunette and red wigs if you would like a more dramatic effect but remember to match your make-up to your hair color by going darker around the eyes and a darker color on the lips and cheeks.

Another tip I want to mention when it comes to wig color selection is softening your look. By choosing a wig color that is 1-2 shades lighter than your natural color, you will soften your look, hence, a more feminine appearance will be achieved.

#4. Price versus quality: Sure, you can buy a wig from one of our competitors for $35-$75, but in all honesty you are most likely not getting a very high quality wig. The caps of these wigs are usually poorly constructed and the hair is of low quality causing frizz and inability to style the piece. What it all comes down to is being happy with your overall look. Keep in mind that a cheap wig will ruin even the best of make-up applications or the most gorgeous dress.

I hope this explanation has assisted in making you feel more like an educated consumer instead of an educated guesser. However, if you are still unsure about which wig is right for you, please feel more than welcome to send me an e-mail with any questions and concerns regarding your selection.
